Mia Bailey served nearly two decades in leadership roles at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where she focused on a host of domestic and international priorities (e.g. housing, homelessness, head start & early childhood, human trafficking, asset building, reentry, fatherhood, marriage, gender-based violence, etc.). Following her federal career, Mia Bailey pivoted into entrepreneurship, launching So Respond, a consultant firm dedicated to helping foundation, nonprofit, and corporate leaders committed to social responsibility and tackling some of society’s greatest social ills. Prior to federal service, Mia worked at the Annie E. Casey Foundation on a number of of issues including Family Economic Success, Centers for Working Families, Responsible Fatherhood, Healthy Marriage and Children of the Incarcerated. Mia also worked at the Community College of Baltimore County on Closing the Gap Initiatives, working to retain and support students on or facing academic probation. She is deeply committed to creating social impact and is experienced in implementing large-scale community-based programs and initiatives, especially those designed to support vulnerable children and families. As a seasoned strategist with with over 20 years of experience working in various roles in the federal government, philanthropy, and higher education, Mia is a trusted advisor, facilitator, bridge-builder and results-oriented professional with a unique ability to organize diverse groups in accomplishing shared goals and objectives. Committed to being a lifelong learner, Mia has completed numerous fellowships including: The President’s Management Council Interagency Rotation Program, Partnership for Public Service- Excellence in Government Fellows Program, and the Princeton Theological Seminary’s Black Theology and Leadership Institute on Social Justice. Additionally, she has taken numerous executive leadership courses at WashU at Brookings Institution. Mrs. Bailey holds a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications/Business Management, with a minor in Women Studies.

The name So Respond acknowledges our passion and commitment to social responsibility, but it’s also a call to action.
